It seemed to me that Mizzou has largely missed on highly rated recruits in recent years. Therefore, I did a little research to see if that thought was accurate. Unfortunately, this was largely proven to be true. Shown below, are 4 and 5 star recruits signed by Mizzou for classes 2012 - 2015.
2012
2015
2012
- Dorial Green-Beckham: 5 Star (6.1RR), #1 ranked player in the nation by Rivals.
- Results: DGB had an average freshman season, followed by a very good sophomore season that was a big part of Mizzou winning the SEC East, Cotton Bowl and finishing #5 in the final AP Poll. However, prior to his Junior season he was dismissed from the team for repeated off the field issues. After transferring to OU, where he was never eligible to play, DGB became a 2nd Round pick of the Titans in the 2015 draft.
- Conclusion: Immensely talented WR that never lived up to expectations on or off the field at Mizzou.
- Evan Boehm: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Boehm started as a true freshman for Mizzou and never missed a game, playing in 52 consecutive games. He was a key part of the best OL in Mizzou history in 2013, which included four future NFL players. He was a big part of back-to-back SEC East titles and Cotton and Citrus Bowl wins. A true leader and great representative of Mizzou. Boehm was a 4th round pick of the Cardinals in the 2016 draft.
- Conclusion: Exceeded all expectations.
- Chase Abbington: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Had to go JUCO
- Conclusion: Complete miss.
- Andy Bauer: 4 Star (5.9 RR)
- Results: Never contributed. Left the program due to medical reasons.
- Conclusion: Complete miss.
- Nate Brown: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Has contributed in a less than expected level to date.
- Conclusion: Junior and Senior seasons will determine if this 4 star lives up to expectations or is passed over by under classmen.
2015
- Terry Beckner, Jr. 4 Star (6.0RR)
- Results: Based on playing as a true freshman at a very high level, he has a chance to be an All-American and 1st Round NFL draft pick in the 2018 draft.
- Conclusion: Based on true freshman season, will surpass all expectations.
- Nate Strong: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Had to go JUCO. Made it to Mizzou as a member of the 2016 class. Appears to be behind a true freshman and 5th year transfer based on very limited fall camp reports.
- Conclusion: We'll know during the next three seasons.
- Chase Abbington: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Very limited playing time during the 2015 season. Transferred to a lower division of college football.
- Conclusion: Complete miss.
- A.J. Harris: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Hasn't been good enough to play at a position of great need.
- Conclusion: Only a RS freshman, the next four seasons will determine if this recruit lives up to his 4 star rating.
- Drew Lock: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Played as a true freshman in very challenging conditions. Not impressive results, but unfair to make any legitimate comment on his play given the circumstances.
- Conclusion: Will know during the next three seasons. Likely will have a very good idea on whether this recruit is a bust or hit after the 2016 season.
- Marquise Doherty: 4 Star (5.8RR)
- Results: Left the program to concentrate on baseball.
- Conclusion: Complete miss.
