Very late in the year I heard that JW3 might be a transfer risk... but had you asked me in February who I thought would leave Mizzou after the year..
I would have put JW3 as maybe the least likely. Obviously my perception was wrong, and possibly he had been on the fence about staying/leaving for quite some time.
Anyway, I would have put the chances of none of the freshman class transferring at maybe 10%... and at one time, I think people thought Isabell was somewhere above 80% at leaving after the year -- given some of his comments, I think it seems more than likely he's back. Just goes to show how fluid these situations are. And that really was my primary point of view when countering "Saul for Mizzou's" opinion that a mass exodus was looming back in early January. I just felt these situations are far too fluid when you are talking about 18 year old kids in their first year or two away from home.
A mass exodus, I suppose, is still possible. I think those kinds of things could very much have a domino effect -- once one or two guys leave, particularly ones with personality influence... then it could lead to other guys bailing. I don't believe JW3 would really have that effect though, as I don't believe he was a guy the freshman necessarily looked up to. Not saying this as an insult to JW3.
If you told me that we would only lose one guy --- sorry to DB, I don't count him as a "loss" -- I would have been pretty happy about that. I'm not as high as some on JW3, so to me, his loss isn't devastating. I believe that all of the freshman minus Allen.. and Clark.. have a higher ceiling than JW3. Don't know if those guys will realize their ceilings, but I think they have a better basic skillset than JW3 -- and every bit or more athleticism.
I think I'm rambling at his point -- but my intention of this post was to get opinion from Gabe and others if they thought silence about leaving from the freshman class was a good sign at this point. Obviously it's good in the sense that they haven't left yet. Just wondering if people think that this mass exodus is still right around the corner. ?
