I was interested in the different perspectives that people on the board have or where the program should be historically. A random thought popped up in my head about whether Missouri had a historically good coach once in their program and that is more of a Norm Stewart effect than anything. I compiled the stats under Norm and yes I know he was here for the better part of 3 decades, but I wanted to compare what he did to the rest of the history of Mizzou basketball.
Norm Stewart era: 32 seasons
634-333 (.655)
8 time regular season champs
6 time conference tournament champs
14 NCAA tournament appearances
2 Elite Eight Appearances
5 Sweet Sixteen Appearances
Mizzou outside of Norm Stewart
1028-851 (.547)
13 NCAA tournaments
3 Elite Eights
3 Sweet Sixteen Appearances
0 Outright Regular Season Titles
2 Conference Titles
So all in all outside of the Norm Stewart Era, Missouri is not a top 25 program.
