Ridge Janes has his Tigers' connections cornered.
While early in his recruitment, Janes asked his St. Louis (Mo.) De Smet teammate Jason King, a Class of 2025 signee, about why he chose Missouri. Yet there's an even more direct connection to the program within his own bloodline.
The son of former Tigers fullback Ron "Rhino" Janes, Ridge grew up on Missouri football. His father blocked for soon-to-be Missouri Hall of Famer Brock Olivo, who is currently on staff for the Tigers.
Following in his father's footsteps, Ridge received an offer from Missouri on Saturday after his second unofficial visit to see the program. The Class of 2028 athlete got his first one-on-one conversation with tight ends coach Derham Cato, and the energy around the staffer got him excited for the next level.
"I got to know what his coaching style was when we went into his meeting room with about four other tight ends, and he told us the concepts of Mizzou," Ridge said. "It got me pumped up, hearing him talk about what they what the tight ends do there and how he uses them."
