COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Head Football Coach Barry Odom and his coaching staff, fresh off one of the more remarkable regular seasons in college football history, have announced the next group of standout student-athletes to sign National Letters of Intent (NLI) to attend the University and play football at Mizzou. Wednesday marked the first day of the brand-new early signing period, which continues through Friday.

Odom’s third recruiting class since being named Mizzou’s 32nd head coach in December of 2015 is off to an outstanding start, with 16 playmakers joining the program officially on Wednesday. The program anticipates having several more signees before the end of the early period this Friday, and will release names at the end of each day.

“I woke up this morning and it’s almost like Christmas early, I really like where we’re at with the group that we got in so far today, I think it matches a lot of the areas we needed to hit positionally, and we’ll be really excited about these guys once they get on campus,” said Odom. “What they’ve done up to this point to get in position to come join us culturally fitting in our program, skill set-wise fitting with what we do offensively and defensively, I’m so happy we’ve got this group starting with us. We’ll be anxious to get them on campus,” he said.

With a win in the upcoming Academy Sports + Outdoor Texas Bowl (Dec. 27th in Houston, Texas), Mizzou can become only the second Power Five program in history to win eight games following a 1-5 start to a season. All the while, Odom and staff continue to make recruiting inroads in the Southeastern Conference footprint. After day one of the early signing period, 14 of the 16 new Tigers hail from SEC states, including Florida, Georgia, Missouri, South Carolina and Texas.
