I just can’t get behind the waivers and extra years of eligibility. Every time you do this you’re screwing a high school kid. Programs that are losing millions over millions aren’t going to be able to fund 25 more scholarships. Not to mention the fact that if players get an extra year the depth chart is clogged up for incoming players. I don’t think an extra year should be awarded in any situations but I definitely don’t think it should be awarded to someone who opts out. You don’t have to play and I understand opting out but being rewarded for making that choice and taking another kid’s spot is wrong
