It's obvious the impact and lost opportunity MPJs injury has on this season. It's possible the larger lost opportunity is the image boost this program would have had if he played and raised the profile of Mizzou basketball going forward. Now, CM and staff have to grind it out, proving themselves over the long haul. Next years class has one good prospect in Watson and 2 projects. Basketball rankings are more often right than football because of the fewer number of prospects. Xavier Pinson is at a high profile school, so maybe he's a diamond in the rough, maybe he is Terrence Phillips II. The Juco PG sounds impressive and I pray he comes to Mizzou. Many of us talk about the "loaded" 2019 class but there is only 1 kid ranked in the top 50 and top 50 kids are a necessity every year to have Sweet 16, Elite 8 or Final 4 teams. Liddell sounds awesome, but even he is ranked below Tilmon & Jontay's ranking. Honestly, the rest of the 2019 kids we are on are normal D1 P5 players that all teams have on their roster.

I think CM is going to grow this program over time, but it's going to take more time than some of us hoped when we got the Porter's on board. We can only imagine what our image would be if we were getting the ESPN love that OU is getting right now. More Top 50 kids would likely be imagining themselves at Ol' Mizzou. Again, I think it will happen, but it's frustrating how long it's going to take when we thought we might have a short cut to greatness with the MPJ factor. I hope 2020 has some local top 50 kids .
