For those interested in the inevitable comparisons...

Mizzou against Norfolk was a 21.5 point favorite. According to Ken Pomeroy's Log 5 analysis, Mizzou had a 96.6% chance of advancing, 23.1% chance of advancing to f4 and 5.3% chance to win it all. Ironically enough, Mizzou was in the bracket where MSU was the #1.

Michigan State against MTSU was a 17 point favorite. According to Ken Pomeroy's Log 5 tournament analysis, MSU was a 92.2% chance of winning that game, 19.8% chance of advancing to f4 and an 11.9% chance to win it all. Bear in mind, Virginia is the overall #1 in his ranking prior to the tournament, which lowers those odds compared to Mizzou having an easier draw (UK was overall #1).

So there you have it. Mizzou still, without a doubt, holds the unfortunate title of biggest individual upset, at least when compared to MSU. However, MSU was a far heavier favorte two win it all (twice as likely as Mizzou) and was therefore a bigger tournament upset.

So I guess we have that.
