The game Saturday is pivotal for MU’s season, so consider the following about Middle Tennessee

Individual rushing efforts by Blue Raider opponents this season;

September 10 - Vanderbilt’s Ralph Webb runs 29 times for 211 yards (7.3 YPC) and 2 TD’s; power back, 235 lb Khari Blasingame adds 2 rush TD’s in the red zone

September 17 - Bowling Green’s Fred Copel 27 carries for 117 yards and Josh Cleveland 18 carries for 153

September 24 – LA Tech’s Jared Craft; 20 carries for 91 yards

October 15 – Western Kentucky’s Anthony Wale’s; 27 for 158 and 3 TD’s

MTSU has allowed

4.9 YPC on 103 carries on 1st down

6.1 YPC on 63 carries on 2nd down

5.6 YPC on 13 carries on 3rd down

All in all, 39 carries of 10 or more yards and 7 carries of 20 or more yards

It would seem MU can have success running the ball….and Heupel’s game plan – at least against larger programs, has been predicated on establishing the run

MTSU runs a single back, 4 WR set, and has the HC’s son, a SO at QB. He spreads the ball around, effectively.

MU doesn’t want to play catch up, and would be well served to make the Blue Raiders to do so. It goes without saying MU will have to play well defensively. Offensively stunted Vanderbilt scored 6 rushing TD's in scoring 49 in a win

I believe Lock will start on Saturday, and I believe Zanders will play & play longer, regardless. But if Lock does not, II have to think the staff would move to Zanders much earlier than in earlier games.

The QB Controversy – if there is one – is deferred until after HC, imo
