Dave Matter posted a look at how Mizzou's finances lag behind its SEC peers. He noted what might be causing the disparity:

"There’s a big gap between South Carolina and Missouri, which can be attributed largely to a wide gulf in revenues from contributions. Eight of the 10 schools ranked ahead of Mizzou in revenue pulled in at least $31 million in contributions, compared to $19 million for MU."

I recognize there is fluidity in revenues, whether its ticket sales, merchandise, etc., but you can do a solid job building a base of donor support. We all remember Alden saying a step up to the SEC would require a commitment not only from the institution, but its supporters as well.

I suppose this raises the question of how much more the fan base can do to close the gap.
