Last night, I broke my own rule and not only let a post having to do with social/political issues and viewpoints remain on the main board, but also became involved in it. For years, those posts have been kept off this board because most of you aren’t here to discuss those issues. We are all here due to interest in Mizzou sports, regardless of our views on other issues and that should be the focus of this board.
I’m not posting this to pass judgment on anyone else who participated in that thread or on any of your beliefs. I’m posting to apologize for my involvement. While it was not my intent, it was correctly pointed out to me by a few people that I painted with far too broad a brush and accused an entire group of people (who I don’t actually even know) of being racist. It was unfair to those posters and it also is not the reason you guys are here. My biggest issue with where we are as a society at large is the inability to have civil conversations without attacking each other and my post absolutely crossed the line in that regard.
Like any of you, at times, I’m prone to letting emotion get in the way of being an adult. I will do my best going forward to stick to posting about Mizzou and leave the other stuff alone. None of you pay me to hear my thoughts on things unrelated to that (those things are why Facebook exists and why I virtually never post there or read the posts of others).
For those interested in those discussions and not easily offended we have the OT board. For the rest, I will go back to the policy of keeping that type of stuff off of the main board and of not contributing to those discussions. Let this be a lesson to all that immediately replying in anger, frustration, emotion is generally a far worse idea than putting the computer away and sleeping on it.
Thanks
