Yesterday there was a thread in which it was discussed about winning the game and playing consistently. I mentioned that the Chiefs have had a few games this year we only played well in one half. This was another of those games. It was said the Chiefs had not been shut out in the first half all year. We didn't score. We had a big 2nd half, but we really didn't have a long way to come back. The Chief's D is not the greatest, but in the first half we let them use half the 1st quarter with their first possession. Then with very little time left the 2nd qtr we let them go the distance when we couldn't get a first down. IMO, this was where the experience factor came into play. We were likely to up tight at the start and then that let down just before the half.
We didn't make our plays consistently and the Patriots did a consistent job of what they wanted to do all game and took advantage of our lack of experience at the end of the 2nd and several other spots.

I had a tendency to want to blame our defense. Fact is we did about as good a job as the Pats!

I can even see where Andy as the play caller missed a few opportunities.

The Chiefs have great offense, and need some improved positions on D. Is one of the Sutton? I have wondered all year, but now I think he can do the job if we get some improvement at 2-4 positions on D.

I think the onus is now falling on Veach and the staff to figure out how to improve the team. We could even use some upgrades on the OLine, IMO even though that would not be the highest of priorities. All year, I have had ups and downs on my opinion of Watkins. He gets hurt so easily and while he has some great plays, he disappears too. Yeah the Pats took Hill out of the game yesterday, but it took a lot to do it and it hasn't happened often.
I have little knowledge of how difficult it is to manage the salary cap. The Pats have been masters of it and along with Brady is the real reason they have consistently been at the top of the heap.
