wanted to wait till this morning because Schiffer covered the game and wanted to let him do his thing.
I understand the anger and venting. It sucks to get run off the field which Missouri did (literally). It happens more often than we think in college football but it sucks when it happens to your team.
I've always viewed the role of our staff here to provide a little balance. Play the middle when people are on the extremes (and an Internet board lives on the extremes). Many overreacted positively to the first for games that were weighted heavily by two games against bad teams. Missouri had averaged 19 a game against legitimate competition. The offense was better but not nearly as much better as the raw numbers suggested or as many hoped.
Likewise many will overreact negatively to this game. Missouri isn't THIS bad.
I saw a loss coming (I was absolutely shocked by the number of people who didn't). It wasn't about Fournette or Orgeron or Miles. It was about a young team going into a tough place to play against a team that was better than its record. That Missouri lost last night didn't surprise me. They margin and the sheer uncompetitiveness of the game did.
I still stick with my 7-5 prediction (though that included a win at Florida and I admit that's tougher to see right now). It's never as good or as bad as you think it is in the immediate aftermath. So vent, take out your frustrations and we will move on to the next one in due time.
