I had a very good conversation with SPIRE Academy Basketball Director Justin Brantley about Myron Gardner. He told that Myron doesn’t do social media — or interviews for that matter — but he provided a lot of insight into Myron’s game and Missouri’s new recruitment of him.
Something that was really interesting that didn’t end up making it in the story was how similar these prep programs are set up to colleges. Kids live in dorms, have morning workouts, classes during the day, weight sessions and team practice at night, as well as study hall and team training table. It’s basically set up as a way to help them adjust to college basketball better.
I should also note that Brantley said SPIRE has nine kids with Division I offers on the team. I didn’t check each one, but there were at least five or six I’d already heard of.
