Not a knee jerk reaction to the kU thing, but with that as the icing on the cake... at what point does the NCAA become a "promotional organization" that just runs the non-football championships and markets for more student athletic support? When does the association have the real oversite portion of their charter stripped away? It seems to me that a toothless NCAA is actually worse for the schools than if that power were relegated to the conferences or a divisional governance. Right now, when it comes to some of the most important rules out there, the NCAA is not only a no show, but they have punted all/most responsibility.
A change is coming, but when... or do the conferences see this as a good thing? Outback style? No rules, just right?
