Posting 20062: Assistant Athletic Director - Mizzou Made. Is this anew position or would this be the same as the Total Person Program Director?

The Assistant Athletics Director – Mizzou Made will bring leadership, vision, integrity and a team oriented philosophy to the diversity and inclusion efforts by the University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. This senior level position will be responsible for leading the department on matters of equity, diversity and inclusion and will educate student-athletes, coaches and staff regarding the importance and advantages of a culture that values and supports each member of our community. This position will lead the development of a vision and effective strategy that champions the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive college environment.

Provides leadership and direction on diversity matters to the executive leadership team, and carry out, by extension, the campus administration goals in the area of diversity. Coordinates programming that encourages critical thinking, challenges stereotypes and develops the skills necessary for civil dialogue around difference and creating positive change. Collaborates with faculty and academic units to advance and implement “Mizzou Made” curriculum, a program for all student-athletes which is designed to help players progress athletically, academically and socially.

Develop and present unique diversity, inclusion, sensitivity and communication training and educational opportunities appropriate for student-athletes, coaches and staff to inform and educate on issues of diversity, multiculturalism and affirmative action. Collaborate with department staffs to develop, enhance, evaluate and revise recruitment, interview and selection strategies, policies and procedures to result in a more diverse workforce.

Coordinate the development, implementation and regular revision of an assessment of newly implemented programs and curriculum and initiatives. Collaborate with all student service areas on campus and within intercollegiate athletics to provide comprehensive education for all student-athletes. Assist with planning for and implementation of Title IX compliance efforts.

Collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to review and enhance student retention strategies, monitor progress in meeting department and campus goals and propose adjustments that lead to improvements that support and promote efforts related to retention and graduation of underrepresented students. Develops and implements a comprehensive diversity and inclusion program for student-athletes focusing on transition, adjustment and retention.

Responds quickly and effectively to environmental needs and crises that related to diversity issues.

Assists with preparing a variety of reports and communications
