It's been a year and no one even feels like they are closing in on this. Australia is just financially fuct because the primary search is still their responsibility due to location. Here is a New York Magazine article that sums up where the search is today and some well scienced and internetted theories, some far fetched and some not so much. In the comments there is a link to a press release from a company called GeoResources. They, along with this author, firmly believe the plane traveled NORTH rather than south along the satellite "handshake" tracking arc. The longer this goes on without a solitary trace of the aircraft, the more you have to wonder if they're right.
