Not a great analogy, but ...

I’m thinking back to the 2006 season, which ended with a very disappointing loss to Oregon State in the Sun Bowl.
I’m not suggesting that the loss in the Sun Bowl and the loss in Wednesday’s Texas Bowl were similar, or even that the 2006 season was to 2017.
But..
The disappointment coming out of El Paso was readily forgotten as the magical 2007 unfolded. You could see in December, 2006, that a whole lot of pieces were in place to make 2007 special.
Reading Gabe’s early preview article gives me a similar sense that the Tigers are well-stocked and ready for a strong run in 2018.
Obviously a lot of factors will be involved, including the schedule, coaching positions to be filled, injuries, transfers in and out, and the late signing period. But sitting here on the Saturday before New Year’s, I have a lot of optimism for 2018.
