When former Missouri linebacker Devin Nicholson returned home, he soon overlapped with one of the Tigers' next targets.
Nicholson, a three-star in the 2019 class, now serves as the linebackers coach at his alma mater, Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech. While the coaching staff changed during his time with the Tigers, Nicholson still told Khalief Canty Jr., a top offensive tackle target for the Tigers, to check out Missouri.
"He told me I should really look into it," Canty said, "and other than that, we got a competitive relationship. Us as CT linemen, we carry the team, so in practice, we are getting each other better far as linebackers and offensive linemen."
Offered by offensive line coach Brandon Jones in February, Canty made his first unofficial visit to Missouri for Junior Day in March. He'll return for an official visit the weekend of June 20.
"It was great, man," Canty said after his March trip, "and what I think about it is, if I go there, I know I can change the program to a championship program, and that's what I'm all about is the team and winning."
