Clearly scheme and coaches putting the talent in a position to realize their potential matter, but if you can’t have proven high level talent at QB and other offensive positions, which offenses typically come out on top?
1). Proven/likely elite performance at QB with unproven seemingly underwhelming other offensive positions. Or
2). Proven/likely elite performance surrounding an unproven seemingly underwhelming quarterback.
Many have suggested Mizzou is in the second group this year. Have we been in a seemingly similar position going into the season before? If so how did work out?
I’m excited about our offensive upgrades in recent years and hopeful that our coaching staff will find a way to get these high potential weapons some touches and protect someone behind center enough to give them a chance to manage the game. I think our defense may be surprisingly good this year. I guess the question is can Mizzou win a bunch of games without a top tier quarterback? Given the SEC gauntlet depth and injuries may tell the story.
