I drove in from STL with my wife... had some drinks.. watched some basketball...drove back...had some drinks...overall, good day....except for the loss. But the good news is as you age it doesn’t kill your day when Mizzou shits itself. You move on.
I just wanted to weigh in on the game though as I know it’s been volatile after watching that implosion.
1. The bald ref was atrocious. No doubt about that. But all the refs were bad and I’m not even sure what constitutes a foul anymore. I used to think I did know, but now I’m not so sure. The calls these guys make are so inconsistent. That’s what is really frustrating. I know they get excited during big moments and have the urge to insert themselves in the game, so many satisfy that urge with a call. The good ones resist that urge and hold steady. But no doubt, the bald ref was bad and insisted on being a part of the outcome. Sadly, I don’t think it’s uncommon. But I don’t think it’s corruption. I think it’s narcissism.
2. Regardless of the refs, Mizzou just lost the game on their own. Handle the basketball, run full possessions re time and make your free throws. You do one of those three things you win. Don’t tell me it’s all the refs. Cuonzo could have slowed the thing down as well and that’s on him.
One thing we should all remember though is that this team is YOUNG. I’m actually giddy about what kind of team this will be in 2020. I feel badly for Jordan Geist though. He deserved to have a better senior season. But who knows? They may just run off 5 in a row and surprise us. They have proven multiple times this year they can play at a high level.
