Ballard’s departure was not a sudden development.
In May, multiple sources told the Post-Dispatch that Ballard was being investigated for an undisclosed disciplinary issue. Team officials declined to answer questions on Ballard’s status throughout the summer. He was not arrested by local authorities and isn’t facing any criminal charges, according to online court documents.
Since Dave wrote that, I'm comfortable sharing a little more than yesterday. Nobody's ever going to actually say it, but you ought to be able to figure out what's going on from that paragraph. A final decision on Ballard's status has not been made and is not Barry Odom's to make.
I would warn to hold off on condemning the kid. There definitely is a chance he is back on the team. I don't have a time table when a final decision on this will be made though (and I don't think anyone else does either). Someone told me the other day it is "frustrating for everybody"
