His recruitment was a little bit of an odd one. He was a kid I liked after seeing freshman tape, then even more after seeing him live as a sophomore.

He was getting “offers” from schools like Florida and Tennessee as a sophomore.

He kind of committed to Ole Miss surprisingly last year, then over time, when Matt Luke was still there, Ole Miss seemed to slow things down with him.

When Lane Kiffin was hired, there was never any contact to try to get Draine back/keep him in the class.

Nebraska made a legit run at him, and that was really the only true competition for Mizzou here. FSU pulled off earlier this week, and then it was down to the Huskers and the Tigers.

With all that said, I think this could end up being a GREAT pick up for Drink and Mizzou.

Yes, it may take a little time for Draine to become the slot/receiver I think he can be due to him spending a lot of time at QB the last two seasons, but he is a guy who can make plays. He is athletic enough that at one time, some schools thought he could be a cornerback too.

He has a nice burst and some wiggle to his game when he has the ball in his hands. He has played receiver too, and he has good ball skills, but he will need to improve his route running, expand his route tree and get bigger and stronger in Columbia.

The recruitment was tough to track at times because it seemed he was a little under-recruited, and over the last 6-9 months, he just didn’t want to talk about it for some reasons.

I like this take by Missouri and I think it could really help the Tigers offensively. He is not a what I would call a burner, but quick, can cut without losing speed and I think not only could he be an effective slot, but also one who could do some damage as a punt returner.

Draine doesn’t say a whole lot, and I’m not sure what set the Tigers apart from the Huskers, but imo, this is a big get for Drink and that staff in Columbia.
