I was busy with schoolwork and such last night, so I didn't have a lot of time to digest the women's game. Looking back now... wow. Missouri thumped Arkansas, 84-58.
Four Tigers scored in double figures. There were 31 points off the bench. Sophie Cunningham led Mizzou with 18 points (4-5 from 3), Frericks had 15 points and eight rebounds, Jordan Chavis had 12 points and so did Hannah Schuchts.
Missouri shot 51.7 from the field and 45.8 from beyond the arc. After the first quarter, Missouri was shooting 73 percent from the field.
In addition, Missouri secured its third consecutive 20-win season for the first time since 1984-87. And the Tigers reached 20 wins on Feb. 12, the quickest they've done that since Jan. 29 during the 1976-77 campaign.
This team is good. I imagine it beats Auburn on Thursday, then comes home for a big matchup against No. 11 Tennessee on Sunday. If Mizzou Arena shows up like it has in the past, I think the Tigers can win that one too. The Vols look worn down, and it seems as though Missouri is just getting started.
The big test is the SEC Tournament. How far can this team go? I think Missouri can beat every single SEC team when its hot. Obviously, Mississippi State and South Carolina are tough draws, but the Tigers already showed they can beat SC, and they gave Mississippi State a run for its money. I believe the Bulldogs can win the national championship, so good on Missouri.
