i am not saying throw out the playbook. I am fine with the same set of plays. Just have the goal be 130 plays between both teams rather than the 195 that was yesterday. Why?
1. Right now we have inferior talent and inferior coaching. In that situation you want fewer plays not more to increase your likelihood of winning.
2. It will allow players to slow the game down. I think some of the penalties are because guys are going too fast. Also more time to think about a play called in a hurdle allows you to run the correct route or look over a defense.
3. It gives your defense a chance to rest. Even a three and out will take a couple of minutes.
4. Allows for better clock management. The Tigers should have never been in a position to punt the ball back when they got it with two minutes left in the half. But three quick ineffective plays did just that.
