This is assuming that was an actual issue...
Wouldn't one of "his" guys that helped build their culture and could keep the players around while getting his first head coaching job be a logical choice to replace him?
If so, you would think it would be an OC or DC, similar to Amschutz (or whatever) when Pinkel left Toledo and the same with Campbell and Candle later on at the same place. Let's say that guy is Marcus West, his DC.
It would be reasonable that whoever that guy is, would try to keep a few guys around and promote them into coordinators or give them more responsibilities as he is building his first staff.
That scenario would open up staff positions for Healy to go after more experienced coordinators/assistants for his new staff. Maybe that leads to Brick, Hill and Ford sticking around, or maybe they go shopping for a Leavett type and pay big bucks?
Either way, I don't understand why the breaking point was this line of thinking that he wanted to "bring his whole staff". That very rarely happens and is one of the reason coaches have coaching trees.
Side note: In my hypothetical scenario above, Healy at age 34 would have as big of head coaching tree as Pinkel at 1 apiece.
