Every game (probably with the exception of the final 4) we hear about all of the players that are opting out for various reasons like preparing for the NFL. These players while not technically being paid have received an education, room and board amounting to probably $40 to $60K per year. The university is definitely making money off the players but that is kind of like the contract the players agreed to when they came to play. The bowl game is basically an exhibition game but for many it is a pride in your school event and I believe the players should finish out their college football career with their teammates. I am okay with paying the players a small stipend for playing in a bowl but I think because of what they have received from the university in the way of an education, they need to play.
