Spent a great weekend at Mizzou attending the game and visiting with old college buddies. Some of the best years of my life were spent in COMO.
This horse has been beaten to death, but I was really surprised by the low attendance—esp with the students. I lived through some pretty crappy teams back in the early 70’s, but we always had good crowds. As students, we had to draw for tickets by floor (in the dorm) or Frat house. We topped 70K several times. Now you can walk up on game day and have great seats.
Now the excuse is the weather, hunting season, other sports teams (Royals, Cards, Chiefs) bad teams, etc, etc. We’re going to die a slow death in the SEC unless we start putting butts in the seats. UT is usually a bottom dweller, but they draw 100K every week. The announced attendance was 48K but it looked much smaller than that. I’ll stop my rant now. Just disappointed by how support has continued to decline—esp among the students. That’s where you future support is going to come from, and it’s just not there.
