Not going to delve into the problems with the offense. They will either figure it out or they won't. While we had hoped winning would come easier with a better offense in 2015, it is nice to know that the defense has not skipped a beat. Look at the stats against Arky St. compared to how USC's defense played them.
Arky St, vs. Mizzou 75 plays-217 total yds 2.89 yards per play
Arky St. vs. USC 87 plays-401 total yds 4.6 yards per play.
Stats aside, Pinkel thinks that Penton might be the best corner he has ever coached. Brothers is IMO playing better than Spoon ever did and was compared to Derrick Brooks on three occasions by last week's announcers.(I know we are only talking 2 games against questionable opponents but the guy has been freakin everywhere) Charles Harris is on another planet right now. Terry Beckner looks like he would not only play for all the other SEC teams this season but be there anchor. Michael Scherer also looks like a beast. He and Brothers together, you can just tell they are reacting and not thinking. Great to see. Newsome has obvious potential and we have seen his athleticism but he just needs to get more consistent.
Guys like Walter Brady, who miss an entire year yet work their asses off to contribute. You have to love his heart and ability. Clearly Augusta worked on his weight and conditioning. It is great to see the big man hustle to the ball.
All of the freshman DL, both true and redshirts, are getting playing time in close games. Meaningful snaps. Look at what those meaningful snaps did for a guy like Charles Harris last season!!
Kenya Dennis is a great physical corner. He has been good to start the season but clearly with his ceiling his best football is ahead of him.
Anthony Sherills is still getting his feet wet but essentially made the break on the ball that Brothers picked and ended the game. More great stuff to come from this kid.
Marcel Frazier has made some plays. Nice to the JUCO kid make the transition. He and Brady are coming along nicely.
