As much as I enjoy a good offensive set, it gives me equal pleasure to see a defense crush an opponents soul by suffocating them on D.
Last night Iowa State had to settle for jumpers because our interior D was outstanding. We blocked shots, altered others and disrupted their plays. When ISU went inside they looked scared because our long arms are everywhere.
Those jump shots we forced them to take lessened our foul trouble and took advantage of our rebounding advantage to limit them to one shot. Iowa State looked like us last year: a small, undersized, jump shooting, hopeless team. We will play better teams but when you add MPJ to the mix, our D should be consistently good to great.
