Have seen lots of thing about our Nickel D (Palmer & Matter each had articles) and each one has quotes from Cross that seems to indicate he and the staff aren't thrilled with our depth at safety. This shows what I know....... this was a position I felt good about going into the season:
-Sherrils: thought he was really good last year w/chance to be elite this year if hands improved
-Wilson: I knew the staff liked him and thought he was good candidate to play a lot of nickel (which we seem to have a need for)
-Hilton: thought he was a tremendous athlete filled w/fast twitch who was our best WR last year after 3 days of practice and would return to safety and be a big time playmaker
-Taylor: have been excited about him since he was at ESTL high and thought he could be instant impact type player
-Perkins: didn't know much about him but figured he was very athletic
-Ross: like a lot of others on this board have been a big fan of his since we survived the late recruiting battle w/UGA, Bama, The U......I know he has had a couple of knee injuries so I guess its understandable it may take him a while to get in the mix.

I guess Cam Hilton of all listed above is the one that I thought would play a lot more.....yes, I know it's been one game but if we are really playing a LB out of position in nickel coverage because there isn't enough from this group that the coaches trust than some of these guys maybe aren't as good as I thought or not buying in yet or some combination of both. Just took me by surprise I guess.
