How to pass the next 2 hours? Man, I cannot wait. I had planned to go to Morgantown for this game long ago. Wife and were going to spend a couple of nights at the Greenbrier (our favorite or second favorite place) and then drive to Morgantown for the game. Then the flood hit the Greenbrier, a trip to Hawaii to visit my daughter and her family got pushed from mid August to late August (got back Monday) and finally it is my son-in-law’s 40th birthday week-end and he is having a bash at Prairie Dunes and flights back from Pittsburgh did not enable me to get back in time to get to Hutch to be with him and my daughter. Yeah, yeah, I know, first world problems. But man I love going to these games. Anyway, on to my concerns.

As I titled this thread, penalties and play of our linebackers highlight my list of concerns. IF our young O line and inexperienced wide-outs can avoid multiple false start penalties in this first game, on the road, in a hostile environment, then that will tell me a couple of things. One, the new coaches have instilled the kind of discipline that will lead to success not only today but in the future as well. For the O-line, no false starts will also tell me they are comfortable in their abilities and they are not over matched at the point of attack.

As for linebacker play, Kentrell Brothers was sooo good. We are going to miss his nose for the ball. Loved the way he got to the football. I am very confident in our front four, believe our secondary will be better than last year, I am just unsure of how well these linebackers will play. If they are good, then we will do really well. Implicit in these thoughts are confidence that Drew Lock will be the player we all thought he would be, the addition of Alex Ross fixes our return game issues (and running attack) and that Andy Hill’s return to coaching the receivers will return our receiving corps, if not to elite status, then at least to a respectable, capable group that will improve week by week.

MIZ!
