Everyone has something to say...so this is my something.
What did we all expect? I am not talking about the "leaking" and all of that BS. That is someone doing damage to something they supposedly care about.........stupid or bitter, not sure which.
This is not a Missouri problem...this is a hiring problem that has existed for a long time and exists everywhere. Missouri is no different here than anyone else.
Sometimes schools get lucky and a coach falls into their laps.
Remember before Bama hired Saban...Rich Rod and several other clusters....totally dysfunctional.
LSU....even when they hired Les Miles...he was not considered this great hire, especially after just winning a NC and having Saban. Then many of their fans went crazy when EO was hired.
Tennessee...........no big names. Jeremy Pruitt had never been a head coach.
Georgia...who was Mark Richt before he came to Georgia? An OC with no experience. Kirby Smart....if you took the fact he was at Alabama...his resume' looks much different. Would those two have really been successful somewhere other than Georgia?
Arkansas...enough said. Everytime they fire a coach they think they are going to get a Nick Saban like coach. They exhausted their list last time and ended up with Morris. I figure they will be disappointed again...though the person they hire may end up great...he won't be the sexy hire they dream about.
Illinois....who could they pull in when they had to hire Lovie?
Nebraska....Bill Callahan...Mike Riley.
North Carolina...reached back for Mack Brown.
Miss State...who had really heard of their coach before he was hired?
South Carolina...got lucky with Spurrier...and then settled for WM.......we have those who think McElwain would be a bad hire..he replaced Muschamp.
I could go on and on..........................
The next coach Missouri hires...even if we all think it is a terrible hire, could be the best we have ever had. We won't know...but what I knew from the very beginning...and back when people complained about the hiring of Barry Odom.............it won't be a sexy hire.
There is a reason a coach is looking for a job.
