After rolling over a pitch and grounding out to 3B, (but just before pitcher Tim Cooney singled sharply up the middle for his 2nd single in his 7 AB's, this year), he has edged down, nearing Carlos Martinez' BA.

If he puts up an "o-fer" in 5 AB's, only Lackey will have a worse BA, than those on the active roster that have an AB.

Of course there are guys that pose some kind of threat offensively that could play SS, and that could be gotten at a reasonable price, but Matheny's loyalty to PK is not going allow this.

If I am planning the Birds for the post-season, prior to the trade deadline I'd be looking at a 11 man pitching staff and a 6 man bench.....

auto-outs Cruz and Kozma; and light hitting Bourjos and potentially Jay will take 4 slots, I would be looking to add not one but two professional hitters, preferrably a LH that can play 1B, and a guy that can hit from the right side.

While Piscotty may preclude the need for one, I think I would still be considering two acquisitions

and I would look for a vet LH middle reliever i could get as well....the thought of Randy Choate facing more than the occassional LH hiiter at the bottom of the order in the playoffs, is thought I try to block out

that's all......just gripping as I watch the bottom half of this batting order on a get away day
