Reiterates Hansbrough is out for this game. Everyone else expected ready to go.

Says Ish Witter is 100% ready to play. Had no headaches, went through concussion checks, etc.

"Chase Abbington we're gonna try to get involved a little bit. Can't get seven running backs ready to play. It's hard to get four ready."

Says he didn't play Abbington on Saturday because he's not going to put a guy in a pressure situation who hasn't played before.

Says they will get one of the freshmen a little bit more involved mentally in case they need to use him later, but at this point doesn't sound like any redshirts are being dropped.

Says Abbington has been working hard, but it was difficult with him getting in so late having to learn everything on such a crash course.

Steward still working, a lot better than he was four weeks ago, should continue to improve health wise.

Pinkel says he hopes they can get Trevon Walters back, "I think it will be more possibly mid October. That's just me just guessing...We certainly can't count on that."

Says players improve more with positive reinforcement than negative. Says Don James always told the staff to be very positive with the players after a loss. Pinkel has tried to implement that in his career.

Got approval from Rex Sharp that Baggett can handle kickoffs again, but Fatony has been doing very well and not automatic Baggett starts doing that again this week.

Pinkel comparing Culkin's leap in maturity to those of Kentrell Brothers and Michael Sam. "We need that from him. It was really nice that we got that performance from him and I think that we can get even a lot more."

On cornerbacks: "I think we're doing pretty good there. I think we're very fortunate." Says Dennis is outstanding and Aarion Penton maybe as good as he's had (if I understand him correctly). Says the corners are incredibly competitive and want to make plays. "That being said, there's still a bunch of things we can get better at."

Asked about the OL, says "I think we're doing pretty good overall...do we need to continue to get better? I don't think there's any question about that." (Pretty stock answer, not sure if he believes that or not).

Says scheme wise Missouri has done some things to try to put Brothers in position to make plays because he's one of their best players.

On left guard: "Based on competition, we'll see where it goes...They're both gonna play as long as they're doing the right things in practice. That's okay."

Says Boehm leaned a lot, favoring his ankle on Saturday, but he's a tough guy and wants to play and continue his streak of starting every game.

Lot of praise for UCONN. I'm waiting for the day when a coach just gets up and says "This team we're playing this weekend really isn't very good."

Says Charles Harris' play isn't surprising him at all.

On Harris recruitment (Pete asked if Mizzou was lucky), Pinkel didn't touch that one. "Let's take a shot, you know?" "We feel very fortunate we hit on the guy." "It's a good story about a great guy."

On McGovern at tackle: "I think that's something that he's going to continue to learn...When he gets in trouble is when he's lazy with his feet or doesn't get his feet in the right position...He'll get better at it."

Says it does no good to be hard on Nate Crawford "because he's just beating himself up." Says he constantly reminds players to focus on what they're doing well and give themselves credit for that.

Asked if not being voted captain is motivating Brothers, Pinkel says he doesn't think so. Says not being voted first team all SEC may have lit a fire in him. "That's good. We're glad he didn't."
