On the SEC coaches roundtable. He not surprisingly answered with guys that can rush the passer. Obviously that seems to jive with our recent success on the field and our new coined mantra DLINEU. It makes sense that if the most important person is the QB, the second most would be the guys capable of rattling a QB and getting him off his game.
The interesting thing, is that our 2 best pass rushers coming into the season were 2 star Harold Brantley and a no star Charles Harris.
Regarding Harris, I think our coaches really lucked out with this kid. I know it is weird to say they lucked out when they offered him a scholarship to play at Mizzou. But in reality, he received a last minute scholarship on the eve of signing day. He had zero other D1 offers. Let that sink in.
With Brantley going down, Frazier arriving late, Ray leaving for the NFL can you imagine the predicament we would be in without Charles Harris?
You can look at the kid and tell that he is a physical freak. He has a bigger frame then both Ray and Golden and most importantly he has longer arms. He is also built like a freaking Adonis. Hard to believe the kid is so jacked.
It also well known that he has a great work ethic and is a sponge. The experience that he received against Alabama last season will pay huge dividends.
To hear that he and Connor are going at it everyday in practice just makes me smile. Connor IMO will be the strongest and most athletic lineman CH will face all season. Now I am not saying he will be the best pass blocker, but tools wise, very few OL in the NFL possess his measurables and speed/strength and agility numbers.
I think 2015 will end up being the Charles Harris coming out party. I think he is gonna be a monsta. And I love the fact that we have athletic linebackers who will now get a chance to rush the passer under Odom.
