This is my opinion. But this is the guy the players want at quarterback. He can open the offense up because he make the reads and all the throws. He knows he cannot run to the sideline and chuck it up. He is a grounded kid who is a very good athlete and has the QB skill level that Mauk could never sniff. Confident but not cocky.

People make a big deal about his footspeed. I bet he is faster than James Franklin who ran a 5.0 40 yd dash. Not to say he is a better runner than the tank because he isn't but his athleticism is very underrated. He was an excellent basketball player, good enough IMO to get a scholly from a school like Mizzou. He uses his feet to extend plays like a Roethlisberger does at the pro level. He moves inside the pocket well. No, he isn't a zone read guy but if the defense backs up or falls asleep Lock will read it and get what he can with his feet.

I hope everyone is patient should he struggle. After seeing Mauk for 22 starts, I would think everyones pain tolerance is high. This kid will not make the same repeated mistakes that Maty made. He will grow. And he will get better fast. He just needs reps with live bullets.

If the rumors are true with Maty then I think his teammates knew he was not a leader. He was not the guy who took the most important position in football as seriously as he should. And most importantly he wasn't doing everything he could to get better and improve the offense. It is hard to buy in when you have no confidence in the guy leading your team. That will change starting this afternoon.

I think we see guys play their heart out for Drew. I think we see balls caught that would most certainly hit the ground with Maty at the helm. Cheers fellas. Here is to a new era of Missouri Tiger football.
