January 28, 2014 was the last time Missouri won a conference road game. They did it tonight by 11 points. This is a good thing. I'm sure many will focus on the final minutes where the lead dwindled and it got a little nerve wracking. Not me. They won a road game and did it relatively comfortably. I'm good with it.
Jordan Barnett, have a month. He's been fantastic. And tonight he actually carried it over to the second half.
It's nice to see a grad transfer come in and be exactly what he was billed to be. Kassius Robertson can shoot the hell out of the ball. And he's the most poised player on the team and the guy I'd say is their leader.
Jontay Porter, good to have you back. I'd still like to see him be more than just a spot up three point shooter, but if he's gonna go 5-7 you can live with it.
The point guards are still an issue. We know this. They'll play teams that are better than South Carolina and they will have some problems.
Jeremiah Tilmon should be well rested for the Florida game.
They rely on the three a lot. I know it and you know it. When it goes in it looks great. When it doesn't, you get the Illinois game. There will be some really good nights and some really bad ones.
Most of this team's problems could be fixed by adding one of the top five players in the country. We shall see if that's a thing that happens. Because if it does, I think Missouri's got a chance to be as good as anyone in this league.
The SEC is going to be fun. There are already nine teams who have lost at least one SEC game. Kentucky struggled at LSU. Mississippi State beat Arkansas. Auburn beat Tennessee. No gimmes in the league this year. Any win is good. Any road win is very good. This was one I felt Mizzou needed to win if they want to be a tourney team. Saturday against Florida is not one they have to win, but it would make a nice statement if they did so.
