From Matt Puttin:

Missouri (24-22, 7-14 SEC) looks to take its recent SEC success from last weekend down to No. 3 Mississippi State (30-14-1, 12-9 SEC) in a three game weekend series beginning today at 6 p.m.

This weekend’s meeting is the first since 2014 in Columbia when the Bulldogs took all three meetings, all of them being close games. Before the 2014 series, Missouri faced Mississippi State in the first round of the 2013 SEC Tournament in a game that went 17 innings. The Bulldogs won that game on a walk-off single. The only other meeting came in the 2003 NCAA Regional in Starkville, won by the Bulldogs 10-5. Mississippi State leads the all-time series 5-0.

Head Coach Tim Jamieson runs into former Mizzou Assistant Coach John Cohen. Cohen is currently the head coach of Mississippi State. Cohen was an assistant from 1992-1997. Cohen coached under historic Tiger Head Coach Gene McArtor before becoming Jamieson’s top assistant from 1995-1997. In Cohen’s time at Mizzou, the Tigers recorded a 185-147 record and made an NCAA Regional appearance in 1996.

Below are the pitching matchups for the weekend’s series. Missouri’s starting rotation did not walk a batter in 21 innings last weekend against Tennessee.

Thursday, May 5, 6 p.m. Reggie McClain (4-2, 3.72 ERA) vs. Dakota Hudson (6-3, 3.00 ERA)
Friday, May 6, 7 p.m. Tanner Houck (4-4, 3.12 ERA) vs. Austin Sexton (4-2, 3.69 ERA)
Saturday, May 7, 4 p.m. TBA vs. TBA

Tonight’s game will air live on SEC Network and Saturday’s on ESPNU. Tex Little and Trevor Coleman have the call on KTRG [100.5 FM/1580 AM] at 6 p.m.
