In reviewing last night's SEC game and others in which Drew Lock has been our quarterback I am most disappointed in his lack of leadership. I had high hopes for Drew in his debut two years ago when he led the Tigers to a win in his first start against South Carolina. He seemed to have the it factor that Chase Daniel had in leading the Tigers. The last two years have shown me otherwise. He wilts under pressure and does not perform well. You can almost sense after the kickoff return that the momentum would turn. And what does Drew do but throw an inexplicable interception on a throw to the sideline. This is when your quarterback as the leader has to take the team on his shoulders and drive it down to the field to regain momentum. The rest of the game you could see that he was not up to the task completing any meaningful pass on third down. I hate when after every bad throw when coming off the field he looks at the scoreboard to see what happened. He is really not a leader similar to Blaine Gabbert but without the talent of Gabbert. This offense is made for a running quarterback and I am convinced with a running dual threat quarterback this offense would be dominant even against SEC defenses. I am not convinced at all that South Carolina is a better team but they have a better coach, a leader at quarterback in Bentley and receiver Samuel who makes plays to win games. This was our formula for the years we won with Pinkel as coach, Smith or Daniel at quarterback plus others and playmakers like Maclin, Alexander, Coffman, Sasser and many others. We have to return to this for success and I am not convinced Drew Lock is the quarterback who can do it.
