I understand that he wasn't ready for the job when he was hired. I understand that his in-game decision making has been poor at times. I understand that there is a LOT that separates him from an elite coach...

However, the Tigers have gotten unlucky (just 2 plays away from 6-2) and Odom has been recruiting well, so it's not like he's the walking-around-with-a-dunce-cap-baffoon some on this board make him out to be.

I feel like the argument that a lot of posters use is "He's not good enough right now" to be the HC. My rebuttal to that is that it answers the wrong question, I think that the thing we need to be discussing is whether or not Odom can be a very/good coach at Mizzou in the near future. What is his potential? How is he developing? Maybe he doesn't have it this year, but has he learned enough to keep pushing the program and his skillset forward? I don't know the answer to that question, and I know there are some very legitimate arguments saying that he can't become "the guy" in the future, I just think it's weak and uneducated for this board to try to throw away a potential lifer when, if the ball had bounced a little differently on 2 plays, we're a 6-2, ranked team.

Remember, Pinkel was inches away from jumping ship and heading to Michigan. I trust Sterk to make the decision on Odom's potential, not his results so far.
