1. Missouri trusts Mevis for better or for worse
Allowed Harrison Mevis to try a 53-yard field goal and he missed. I think that’s three missed field goals on the season. I think it was a good call to go for it on fourth and seven because if the Tigers don’t get the first then KSU takes over from the same spot anyway.
2. 10-point swing
So, there were a couple of times to get a stop on that possession. Darius Robinson almost had a bat down on third and six and just missed, to give up the first down. Then, there was a slant over the middle to get the Wildcats within the five-yard line. Carlies just looked a step late on the slant and barely hawked the guy down from scoring.
Then, blown coverage on the touchdown pass to FB/TE Ben Sinnott.
That’s a 10-point swing. That hurts, but Mizzou is still very much in this.
3. Brady Cook is ballin’
Early in the quarter, Cook with a couple of passes to Mookie Cooper and Brett Norfleet for big gains. Norfleet took a big hit on his catch and kept the feet in.
Cooper had a gain of 41, and then Norfleet had a gain of 27.
Cook is 9-of-12 for 186 and a touchdown. Then, he adds a rushing touchdown to end one of the drives. His passer rating is 253.9.
12 passes and 18 runs for Mizzou, and Cook has eight of the runs.
4. Eli Drinkwitz and Kirby Moore are coaching, coaching
Yes, I meant to say coaching twice. They’re opening up the playbook, and it’s working. I guess there’s a method to the madness of not revealing anything the first two weeks.
5. Cook slipped on the way out of bounds and now Sam Horn is in the game
That lasted two handoffs. Cook comes back in the game. He didn't go back to the tent.
It looked like an ankle injury. So, let's see how much it hampers him for the remainder of the game.
A couple of plays later he takes a massive sack.
End of second quarter: KSU 14, MIZ 17
