1. Trickery doesn’t work.
One of the few blemishes of the game for the Tigers is they motioned out half of their offensive line to the left sideline then the ball was snapped with Luther Burden running in front of Brady Cook in the shotgun. Cook hikes the ball and doesn’t pop pass it which would’ve resulted in an incomplete pass. He tried to hand it off and Burden fumbled. Murray State recovered, however, it only held on to the ball for one minute and 55 seconds before punting.
2. First punt.
It took 19 minutes and 10 seconds of game time for Mizzou to punt. I thought Luke Bauer was getting the day off.
Other Mizzou stats for this game with 10:42 left in the second quarter:
Tigers have 11 first downs, 107 pass yards, 96 rushing yards, and 3-of-3 in the red zone.
3. Back-to-back punts.
Ring the alarm bells! (I’m kidding).
The offense is a little bit flat in the second quarter. Following the fumble, Mizzou punts for the second time in a row after scoring twice on its first two offensive possessions in addition to Toriano Pride’s interception return for a touchdown.
4. Brett Norfleet's injury.
Around the two-minute warning in the first half, tight end Brett Norfleet went into the injury tent laboring at one of his shoulders. After he came out of the tent he was moving both arms and wasn’t hunched over like when he went to the injury tent.
