Give this team this: They don't quit. In a meaningless game late in a bad year where they were down 15 late in the first half, they never quit fighting. I don't know what that counts for, but it's admirable. Next step would be to stop putting yourselves in position to have to fight back so often.
Mizzou got it tied a couple times, but never took the lead. Ole Miss kept coming up with answers. Credit to them.
Biggest play of the game: 67-65, Mizzou with the ball and a chance to tie or lead, Devonte Shuler picks Xavier Pinson's pocket at the top of the key and scores. Rebels go up four. Pinson's been great and he was mostly good tonight, but that one hurt. And six turnovers is way too many.
Second biggest play of the game: Down four, Dru Smith was tied up and simply had it taken from him beyond the three point line. They're both good players. Missouri relies on them a ton. But those are turnovers you just really couldn't afford. Dru had 8 points on 13 shots and didn't go to the line. Not a good recipe.
Thought Jeremiah Tilmon plalyed a nice game. Ended up with 12 and 7 and Missouri looked for him a lot. Could have been even more if it wasn't for a couple unkind bounces. Missouri needed it tonight because Reed Nikko had a tough day.
Javon Pickett and Mark Smith combined for three points on 1-5 shooting in 37 minutes. There are words for that, but I probably shouldn't type them.
At this point, Missouri is playing for nothing. They can still avoid Wednesday night if they beat Bama, A&M beats Arkansas, Auburn beats Tennessee and Mississippi State beats Ole Miss. BUt it doesn't matter. Honestly, you might rather play Wednesday so you get a win at least (I don't think that would be guaranteed). Even if they win Saturday, they're going to be 15-16 and they're going to have to win three in Nashville to have a real shot at the NIT, which they aren't good enough to do. They were 15-17 last year. Where's the progress? That's a fair question.
We'll have some video tonight and Mitch is putting together some takeaways. Spring football starts in three days.
