-In my notes watching Utah State film earlier this week, I said that the Aggies have a really good player but no real "star" like Kobe Brown. And I think y'all see what I meant now. Kobe Brown single-handedly took over the game in the second half. He had to get comfortable with the spacing he was getting -- there weren't going to be any real wide-open looks for him, but they gave him enough space to get a shot off. He finally started delivering right when the team needed him to. Kobe was the best player on the floor and he played like it.
-The defense fell off just a little bit but D'Moi Hodge did not. He has no conscience. He's just a flat-out killer. That give-and-go pass on the sideline out-of-bounds play with Noah Carter was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
-I made eye contact when Aidan Shaw checked into the game in the second half and he just seemed so incredibly calm. You'd expect jitters from a first-year player playing on this stage for the first time in their career, especially with their team trailing. I did not get that vibe from him at all. It was more like "I belong out here." And he did for the most part. He played with a lot of energy, brought intensity on defense and most importantly, didn't make mistakes. This is going to be good experience for him down the line.
-I was utterly shocked Nick Honor missed both of his technical free throws, especially because Kobe usually shoots those and I told Gabe earlier this season Nick was the one who should take them because he makes 87% of them. And yet, he somehow makes the fallaway 3 with a hand in his face with less than a second on a shot clock to put the game away? How is that not more difficult? Tuff
-The drought is over. Mizzou plays on Saturday. Gabe and I will be working pretty much non-stop until then. Y'all soak it all up
