-That was the type of half Mizzou should've had for the full game. The defense was night and day, but was also helped by LSU cooling down from 3. They generated a lot more steals, which led to a lot more fastbreak points. Shoot, that first half was dreadful.
-DeAndre Gholston really popped off to get them going at the start of the second half. He's really impressive when he's on, he was nearly unguardable.
-D'Moi Hodge broke the single-season steals record (raise your hand if you predicted that before the season) then hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 59-59. And then...Mizzou took its foot off the pedal again. That should've been the moment they started pulling away and instead they relaxed and let LSU keep the game tight.
-Another quiet night from Kobe, which you wouldn't have expected against this type of team. His outside shot wasn't falling and LSU's defense collapsed on him every time he went inside, so it certainly wasn't easy. But you'd like to see him have more of an impact. this time of year.
-I thought Noah Carter made a big difference on the boards. LSU got a lot more putbacks (mostly because they had a lot more misses). But it could've been worse without Carter. He also came up with a game-clinching steal. He's had a nice couple of games lately and their getting him back in rhythm right on schedule.
-Should Mizzou have won this game by a lot more? Absolutely. But you still have to be satisfied with the win. They're not going to move down seeding wise and they still have ZERO bad losses. They also have the inside track on getting the double bye -- Vandy already did the hard part for them by beating Kentucky. I believe they just have to beat Ole Miss to get it? Someone double-check for me.
