1. This is the kind of game a coach loves in the beginning of the season. You win but your team gives you a lot to work on. Mainly switching, fighting through screens, and ball security. Zo loves that shit.
2. Gabe was correct when he said after the first game to not read into the rotations as in who will play this year and for how much. Mitchell Smith played a ton and Reed either didn’t play or was only out there for a minute.
3. Mitch had a really good game. I wouldn’t read to much into that either. To me he is the kind of guy who would be conference player of the year in the Sunbelt or similar league but will struggle against big time competitors. I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.
4. On Wednesday I laughed at the people saying Mark wouldn’t be a big part of the rotation. I laughed harder tonight. If he stays healthy all year he will lead the team in scoring. Really glad to see him take Zo’s coaching to heart and putt the ball on the floor and get to the basket. If he can do that on the reg he is all conference.
5. X Could be a special player and probably will be, but he is a little Tilmon Jr. Too many dumb ass fouls. Give him credit for not fouling out though.
6. Just because Zo didn’t get Ramey or Love or name whatever player you think he should have signed does not mean he does not croot well. Kobe is going to be damn good. No one thought much of Pinson and he looks great minus the fouls so far. I would have loved those guys. I really hope he can pull a rabbit out of his hat and land Christopher, but I think he should be given a pretty long leash in this area.
7. Knock it off when trying to pass to JT over a defender fronting him. For the passes to be successful you need a better passer than we have and a big man with plus plus hands. JT doesn’t have those. It is high risk high reward. I think it worked one out 6 times we tried it.
8. I would have loved to see MARIO get some minutes at the end but can’t complain too much since I am not at practice. Tray needs to hustle more on the court or he will see his minutes disappear.
9. This was definitely better competition than Incarnate Word but I still do not know a lot about our team. I do feel better than I did on Wednesday. Tuesday is huge. Not that it is a must win, just a great measuring stick.
10. Stop it with Big Guard U. Go undefeated in the non-con and if they still want to use it go for it. It is not a big deal to be better and bigger than a directional school and a girls high school.
