—First, a shoutout to the fans. If there were 72,000 in the building, 40k had to be cheering on the good guys. What an atmosphere. The 400 level was electric. Every third and fourth down! Don’t travel, my ass.
—Based on yards per game, Cody Schrader is your NCAA rushing champion. Most impressive: He ran for 128 yards without having a run of longer than 10. Fittingly, the last significant snap of his college career came on the Luther jet sweep. Shredder delivered two blocks on the clincher.
—This team is gonna miss Foster and Delgado. Watched a replay of the second half this morning. Flat-out nasty. The hole on the Shredder TD was massive.
—Biggest play of the night might’ve been the slant to Wease on third-and-7 on the third play of the first TD drive. Helluva throw. Helluva fight to get the first down on a hit that could’ve been targeting.
—Big 12 officiating crew, but I digress.
—I was initially surprised that Shredder didn’t get the offensive MVP, but now it makes sense. Cook made four of the biggest plays of the night and had a handful of timely runs. Got the crap beat out of him too.
—What a dime Cook threw to Wease. The TD pass to Luther was equally impressive. Talk about a tight window. Didn’t realize the linebacker came diving across. But you haters keep hating.
—Loved going for it on fourth-and-1 inside the 25, up 7-3. A chance to deliver the dagger. And then they did. Btw, on the third-and-short run, the DT should’ve been called for tripping. A clear leg whip. Limped off after the play. Karma?
—Can somebody explain to me how Walker was the defensive MVP? Two tackles and a sack. Should’ve gone to Carlies or Carnell or Newson, who was flying all over the field. The staff has found one there. Kid’s a player.
—Courtesy of ESPN: Over the past two seasons, teams are now 1-112 after being shutout through 3 quarters.
—Much angst over the punting this season, but did Riley Willams ever come through: 40.8 yards on 8 punts, including 5 inside the 20.
—This team bullied Ohio State. Repeat: This team bullied Ohio State. What a message. What a potential program-defining win.
—11-2!
—11-and fricking-2!
