I was looking through the last few recruiting cycles and found it alarming with how many of Mizzou's higher-rated recruits (per Rivals) didn't pan out as hoped. It's pretty easy to see just how the Tigers wound up in the position they found themselves in last year.

On the bright side, the 2015 class has already rendered many playmakers and building blocks for a very solid core.

Here's a list of the year-by-year players (my notables) who didn't pan out, as hoped, for Mizzou and their ranking in Mizzou's class only:

2011 -
Corbin Berkstresser - 2nd - 5.7 3*
Taylor Chappell - 4th - 5.7 3*
Cortland Browning - 6th - 5.6 3*
Gerrand Johnson - 7th - 5.6 3*
Michael Boddie - 8th - 5.6 3*
Wesley Leftwich - 9th - 5.5 3*
Brandon Hannah - 10th - 5.5 3*

Really weak class, overall, but 2011 did produce 1st rounders Shane Ray and Sheldon Richardson, NFL draftees Kentrell Brothers and Connor McGovern, and effective multi-year starters in Ian Simon and Clarence Green.

2012 -
Dorial Green-Beckham - 1st - 6.1 5* - Great talent, but we all know how this one ended.
Morgan Steward - 3rd - 5.7 3*
Maty Mauk - 5th - 5.7 3*
Torey Boozer - 7th - 5.6 3*
Chaston Cuffee - 8th - 5.6 3*
Evan Winston - 10th - 5.6 3*
Ka'Ra Stewart - 11th - 5.6 3*
Levi Copelin - 14th - 5.6 3*
Jordan Williams - 16th - 5.5 3*

This class had a lot of potential with guys like DGB, Steward, Mauk, Boehm, Newsom, Culkin, Scherer, Hansbrough, Golden and Brantley, but the top guys didn't pan out in the Black and Gold, and several kids transferred out or never made it to campus. DGB, Copelin and Williams were positional casualties at key positions in 2015. Obviously, this class has still produced some damn fine players for the Tigers in Boehm, Newsom, Scherer, Hansbrough, Golden and Brantley.

2013 -
Chase Abbington - 1st - 5.8 4*
Trent Hosick - 2nd - 5.7 3*
Antar Thompson - 4th - 5.7 3*
Eddie Printz - 5th - 5.7 3*
Marcus Loud - 6th - 5.7 3*
Harneet Gill - 10th - 5.6 3*
Clay Rhodes - 11th - 5.6 3*

2014 -
Andy Bauer - 1st - 5.9 4*

The rest is too early to tell. Obviously, there's no hard-hitting analysis here, it's just alarming to see how many coveted recruits from the last several classes have transferred or simply not panned out as hoped. It's also no surprise that a large percentage of these kids would've played at positions that suffered last year.
