FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - No. 20 Mizzou Softball secured its second consecutive five-inning, run-rule victory as the Tigers routed Arkansas, 11-1, on Saturday to clinch the series. Ten different Tigers collected a hit and seven players on the roster drove in a run. Junior Sami Fagan led the attack, going 3-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, a triple and four RBI.

Mizzou has now won five straight games. In the span, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 53-8, plating at least eight runs in each outing.

Just like the series opener, head coach Ehren Earleywine's squad wasted no time jumping ahead. Junior Emily Crane (Troy, Mo.) smoked a one-out single to set the table for fellow junior Sami Fagan (Dunnellon, Fla.). Fagan yanked her eighth career triple down the right field line to plate Crane. She eventually came home on an RBI groundout off the bat of senior Corrin Genovese (East Amherst, N.Y.).

The Tigers built a comfortable lead by putting up a crooked number in the second inning. Once again, the duo of Crane and Fagan were responsible for most of the damage. After back-to-back singles by sophomore Natalie Fleming (Silex, Mo.) and junior Taylor Gadbois (Maryville, Mo.), Crane smashed a triple of her own in the gap to drive in two runs.

An at-bat later, Fagan crushed her second two-run home run of the series. She is 5-for-7 through two games in Fayetteville with seven RBI. Following the two-run blast, the Tigers owned a 6-0 advantage. Mizzou eventually plated three more runs in the inning, including an RBI single from freshman Sydney Sprague (Columbus, Ga.). The base knock was the first hit of Sprague's career.

The Tigers tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Fagan unloaded on a solo home run to tally her second long ball of the game and third of the series. She now has a team-high 52 RBI on the season. Sophomore Anna Reed (Lonedell, Mo.) rounded out Mizzou's scoring by driving in her third run of the season with an RBI single.

Freshman Paige Lowary (Dallas Center, Iowa) and sophomore Cheyenne Baxter (Norborne, Mo.) both had solid outings in the circle. Lowary threw 3.0 innings and gave up just two hits while piling up five strikeouts. Baxter entered in relief and kept the Razorbacks hitless in the final two frames.

The Tigers return to action in the Battle Line rivalry at 1 p.m. Sunday (April 19). For all the latest on Mizzou Softball, stay tuned to MUTigers.com and follow the team on twitter @MizzouSoftball.
